iCloud for Windows won't upload videos downloaded from iCloud for Windows
In trying to troubleshoot an issue uploading videos in iCloud for Windows, I came up with a simple test, but it is failing and I don't understand why. Hoping someone can enlighten me.
Test:
- Open the iCloud Photos folder in Windows File Explorer
- Find a short video, shot on my iPhone 14 Pro yesterday (IMG_0674.MOV)
- Confirm that the video plays in Windows successfully
- Copy/paste the video back into the same folder (new file: IMG_0674 - Copy.MOV)
- Confirm that the new video plays in Windows successfully
Expected behavior: New file is uploaded and available from Photos on my iPhone and on iCloud.com
Actual behavior: iCloud for Windows will not upload the file, errors in the iCloud Photos log file
The video file I'm testing with is 4k / 30fps, using HEVC
Windows 11
iCloud for Windows - v14.2.122.0
Options enabled:
- Download in High-Efficiency Format
- Download HDR Videos
In the iCloudPhotos log file, I see this...which makes no sense to me, since it definitely is a supported codec
