Ecobee Premium Thermostat constantly loses connection in HomeKit

I installed Ecobee Premium Thermostat back in May 2023. Every couple of weeks since, within HomeKit my Ecobee devices have shown up as no response (thermostat, sensors, etc.). I have to pull the thermostat off the wall, wait 10-15 seconds, then reattach it, and everything is fine. While this happens, the Ecobee app has the full sight of all sensors and the thermostat, so it's not that it's getting disconnected from the network. I have Frontier Fiber 2gHz on an Eero Pro 6E mesh network. I have no other devices out of the 60+ gadgets I have hooked to HomeKit (i.e., Hue, Aqara...) that give me this issue. Now, Ecobee's customer service/support site leaves a lot to be desired. Has anyone else had this issue? There is nothing on the Ecobee support site at all on this.

Thanks

my hub is currently my downstairs AppleTV 4K. All my software and apps are up to date. I was thinking about deleting and re-adding the thermostat to HomeKit again but I was trying to find either a known issue or another less painful fix. I have signed out and resigned into the AppleTV recently for another reason but obviously, that didn't make a difference with this 🤷🏻‍♂️ Now I did the unplug and plug back in the Ecobee about 24 hours ago and it reconnected. Here it is just now when I looked. Disconnected again! 🤬

I have the ecobee 3 lite. Following a firmware update it installed by itself last year, it suddenly didn’t like being connected to my 5G wifi. I had to connect to my 2.4 GHZ. It’s been fine since.

Im not sure what is causing the issue with yours. Did you close the App and thin relaunch to be sure it was refreshed and not just seeing it how you last used it?

ecobee with show “ no response” if the device has a temporary power or wifi interruption.

I did close and relaunch the app a few times. As I said, the Ecobee app shows it as fully connected and controllable. The only way to temporarily fix the issue in HomeKit is to unplug the unit from the wall and reseat it. I can't figure out if it's an Ecobee, Eero, or Apple problem. They all point the finger at each other when I inquire. Well, to be honest, I haven't reached out to Apple yet. I figured I'd start here.

Sometimes ecobee updates the firmware and the app should also be updated to work with the new firmware.

if it’s an Apple issue you might want to troubleshoot whatever device is being used for the Home Hub. Apple did release some software updates to be installed yesterday. This includes Apple TV and HomePod. iPads can no longer be used as Hubs if you upgraded to the new architecture. Update all of your Apple devices and the ecobee App.

What are you using for your Apple Hub? HomePods can be reset and set up again. Apple TV can be signed out in iCloud, restarted and signed back in along with setting up Airplay & HomeKit on it again after you do that,

The drastic step would be to remove ecobee from the home app and add it again.

Other steps you can take involve restarting the Hub(s) and rebooting the wifi.

It can be quite difficult to isolate what is causing the issues in HomeKit. I know this is frustrating.

This page I’ve linked below has troubleshooting steps but I think we’ve already covered this , apart from signing out of your Apple ID on other devices and is everything signed in with the same Apple ID. Everything in the same wifi network?

There’s a “Contact by Phone” to them at the foot of the page if you want to try that. You can also call 1-800-MY-APPLE to see if an Advisor can be of assistance. I suspect it might be an issue with your Network.

Theres also a Reddit thread on it thst may have some tips to try: https://www.reddit.com/r/ecobee/comments/oj92fw/repeated_no_response_in_homekit/
