Border router required error with homepod mini

Hi, I bought a homepod mini and added to my home. When I tried to onboard Eve matter accessory I get thread border router required error. Also I could not see thread network created.

Is there any pre requisite to make homepod Mini to create thread network. Doesn't it work automatically ?
