Macro image or pixelization?

Using the macro lenses of my iPhone 13, I’m getting images of what look like skin cells/repair. Skin doctor —and a few other science minded types—tell me “impossible, phone is creating deceptive pixelizations that only “look” like cells.” Question: what AM I looking at? Can my macro lenses take stills of cell repair? I can post image for anyone with “background” in such matters.

Thanks,
