Out of the blue .... ERROR: limitcheck OFFENDING COMMAND: imagemask message on HP Printer

Am needing to print some tax PDFs on Mac Pro OS Mojave 10.14.6 to HP Laser Jet Pro 200, that up until couple days ago was printing just fine. Now am getting the error message above. This is from wireless router, and in my Printers preferences I am seeing THIS contradictory information now:

Mac Pro, macOS 10.14

the errors you are showing are PostScript errors, which usually only occur when the Printer is not using its correct driver.

occasionally, a badly formed PDF will generate an object outside the printable area, and that can also generate an error like that.

try printing something really "ordinary" and see if the same issues occur.

--yes, wrong driver might be the problem

--No, badly-formed document might be the problem

have you been able to print those since your outage?

if yes, then that is likely a badly-formed document. Sometimes footers end up outside the printable area.

if you are having problems printing pdf files, try the Print-to-PDF option in the print dialog, then print the resulting file.

another trick is to try printing from Acrobat reader instead of Preview.

another trick is to open the document as large as you can and take a screenshot of the most important part, and print the screenshot.

Hi Grant

Thanks again for that. Had not noticed. This all got messed up apparently 3 days ago when we had an internet outage during a rainstorm for one full day before fixed by provider. So I have actually deleted the 3 unneeded Epson Printer Lines. I am back to being able to print "some" things but PDFs from my brokerage account, and to double check I tried printing a PDF of one credit card statement (NOT previously attempted to print) ..... I am still getting this error message. Attached are the 3 types of Forms below for taxes that have the error message notated. The card statement is the same (not included)

Yes, sorry, what I mentioned above on the other type images and the PDF of W2 from another company have been able to print since you got me squared away on the drivers issue. I don't have acrobat reader, and am hoping to simply print as I did last year my needed needed Tax Forms from Fidelity (that certainly are formatted correctly?)

Where in the dialogue can I find "Print-to-PDF option? It's not in the drop down under PDF on the bottom left (only Open in Preview, Save as PDF or Save as Postscript) ..... or under Presets, or under Preview?

Hi Grant

Actually I said that incorrectly, not a power outage but loss of internet from our provider for 24 hours, and following this seems to be the start of not being able to print most PDFs. I did go to the touch screen on the printer and navigate to Restore to Factory Settings, but still no change. Have also started a thread now too in printer section of HP forums on line.

Any other ideas, as I saw other people here have had this same error message in the past?

Hi Grant

Yes I "have been able" to print other type images, but ALSO INCLUDING (surprisingly) a PDF of a W2 form from Paylocity web site, for a company I do work for each year and they take out all the normal withholding. It comes up in the preview and looks far as I can tell same as the (I'm sure properly formatted tax forms that I printed in the past) from Fidelity. This is a real head scratcher.

Hi Grant

Yes that box on lower left I had already tried. Only option was to open in Preview and try to print, and I was already in Preview so a "no go".

BUT .... woot ... woot ... woot! I downloaded Acrobat Reader and set PDFs to open in it, held my breath and ..... BOOM went the dynamite!! LOL. It works now!!

Thank you so much for your time and patience. Very much appreciated!!
