HomeKit devices not working when away from the house

My HomeKit devices are not working when I am away from the house. I am wondering if my Apple TV HD fourth generation is an acceptable hub or do I need an Apple TV 4K as a hub? With or without Thread?

I have four Apple TV HD devices and three original HomePod devices. All appear as "Standby" in the home app. Shouldn't one of the standby devices be identified as the connected hub?

Yes, I have enabled all four of my ATV HDs as hubs. I have reset the three HomePods, assured all ATV HDs are on current TVOS, and have rebooted modem and router (Netgear Orbi Wifi 6 mesh router is new, but system worked fine with this router after installation a few weeks ago). All seven hub devices appear as "Standby" status in Home app; not one appears as primary hub. This problem started about a week ago.

Thanks for your response, Rudegar.
