Previously purchased music gone after cancelling Apple Music free trial subscription

I had an extensive music library through iTunes - all purchased - and after signing up for the free 1-month trial of Apple Music and cancelling the free trial within the free period some of my music, purchased long ago, is now gone. At first they showed up with a cloud icon, indicating that they were downloadable, but then when I tried the entry just turned grey and I can't play or download or anything. Apple Music grabbed them - but they were already mine!

Music Gone Missing After Subscription:

Are there your own songs? Or are they ones you purchased from the iTunes Store, back in the day? Note that you are leasing these files —not owning them. Give Apple Support a call, and inform them that your purchases have gone missing, some how.

Recommend Items Gone After Cancelling Subscription:

The list has gone. The subsection only lasts so long. So, it likely expired within the 30 days and you were on the last one or two of the days remaining until you would have been charged for a new month of music.
