Connecting stereo system.

I am trying to connect a new Mac desktop to a stereo system. (Old school audio receiver and nice stereo speakers.) My old Mac had a micro jack out I could use to connect to a sound system, but my new Mac has no such output, onlyThunderbolt. Suggestions?

MacBook Pro does not recognize an audio output I'm trying to output audio from my 2019 MacBook pro to a usb-c cable that connects on the other end to an XLR cable, which goes to a speaker system. When I plug in the cable, I check system preferences -> sound, and see that it will accept audio input using this cable, but does not recognize it as an audio output. Any suggestions? Can't connect new MacBook Air to 5.1 speakers Hi there. I have a new MacBook Air that just doesn't seem capable of connection to my 5.1 speaker set up. When I connect it to television via HDMI, it identifies the connection (it identifies my Marantz amplifier) but will only give me a stereo output option in 'Midid setup.'. If I try this on my nine year old MacBook Pro through the same HDMI connection, it identifies the connection as 'HDMI' and provides a 5.1 option in the dropdown output options in midi setup. Thoughts anyone? Thanks!

Best way to connect MacBook Pro 14 2021 to 5.1 audio system? Does MacBook Pro 14 2021 support 5.1 audio output through the 3.5mm jack? If not what would be the best way to connect it to a 5.1 audio system and get true 5.1 audio? Thanks in advance!

Hi,

You could connect Thunderbolt 3 to RCA analog audio receiver with following adapter.

What new Mac desktop model do you have...?

Most if not all Mac's still have a 3.5mm headphone output port.
