icloud circle of death

For months now my icloud on PC stops working every few days. When I open icloud the screen the pops up has a circle that just spins. I have to un-install then reinstall icloud for PC to get it working again. I might get two or three days with it working. Furthermore, when I have to set up again, I lose any work saved on the icloud drive. This is making transporting images and files very difficult and really limiting the usefulness for me of icloud.
