Suddenly my mac won't recognize external hard drives it has recognized in the past. I've tried different ports and adaptors (going from USB to USB-c). This is true for three different drives. All are mac formatted.
iMac 27″, macOS 10.12
The Grand Arbiter between Raw drives and mountable valid MacOS Volumes is Disk Utility.
launch disk Utility and use the tiny View menu to choose "show all devices.
¿Are the DEVICES detected?
Go to the Disk Utility app and check if you could see the external drive on there. Also make sure you have enable showing External drive in the Finder's Preferences.
