Why does it take so long for my Apple Card payment to be deducted from my bank account??

When I make a payment on my Apple Card it takes DAYS to come out of my checking account. Usually 3, but it's been up to 6. Why aren't the payments automatically deducted immediately?? It's 2024! No other automated bill I have set up to be paid out of my account takes this long, everything else is IMMEDIATE. Every payment I individually pay without automatically takes equal amounts of time to be deducted. I will frequently think the money has already come out or forget that I need to leave a certain amount of money in that account, then the payment declines at some random point in the middle of the night, then I will transfer money around, make ANOTHER payment, and the waiting cycle begins again. It's been this way for the 2 years I've had the card, and I would just like an honest explanation as to why the biggest tech company in the world can't automatically deduct payments out of their customer's bank account for it's credit card. It's caused multiple issues for me on many different occasions. There is no point in keeping a checkbook-like record of my transactions, because literally EVERYONE else automatically deducts payments! Apple Card is the only one who is delayed.

So they are allowing me to make my credit card payments as a "courtesy"? What an odd way of wording that. If it is set up to be so tightly integrated with Apple Tech why can't my payments just be automatically deducted? I don't think I'm asking for the moon and stars here. I'm also aware the Goldman Sachs is the investment bank which handles authorizations, payments, and billing for the Apple Card. But I don't have a "Goldman Sachs" Card. I have an Apple Card. Apple has branded their name onto the card so it should be reflective of their technology standards imo. I love Apple products, they're all I own as well as the preferred tech of my employer and their branches. It just frustrates me because I'm not late paying my bills, I'm buying my first home and I'm terrified my credit will be effected due to my working 60-70 hour work weeks (not including travel) and believing a bill has been deducted when it has not. I'm far from perfect, and I would just like the reassurance my money has been deducted, from my approved financial institution, as per my agreement with Goldman Sachs. I don't see me making a payment towards my credit card balance as anything a global powerhouse like GS shouldn't be able to immediately handle. My car payment, insurance, Discover, Amex, utilities, rent, medical bills for cancer treatment, Mastercard, can do this with zero issues and the financial institutions which handle these manual and automated billing services are nowhere NEAR as large, or esteemed, as GS or Apple technologies. As you stated earlier it's meant to be tightly integrated into Apple tech, so why can't payments instantly be deducted? Goldman Sachs is CERTAINLY capable of doing so, and it's partnership with Apple should demonstrate a seamless integration between the two. At least in regards to payments and billing. Maybe I'm putting Apple up on a pedestal, and maybe I should just leave a large bulk of money in my primary checking, but sometimes with my medical co-pays and deductibles I'm now facing due to a recent diagnosis, work hours lost due to losing my father 3 weeks ago, and my husband 9 weeks ago, plus funeral expenses as his passing was sudden and we weren't prepared. Money is tighter and it's more difficult for me to manage everything alone.

They are allowing you to use your bill pay service as a customer support exception. They are not setup to handle the receipt of payments via bill pay and the payments require special handling. Apple Card was never setup to be like other cards. It’s meant to be tightly integrated into Apple devices and technology. They are accepting your form of payment as a courtesy.

I also didn’t realize that Goldman Sachs is the >biggest tech company in the world<.

In regard to the crediting of your payments, I know that all may payments are instantly credit to my available credit. I will assume that is because I’m using one of the several standard forms of payment.

How to make Apple Card payments - Apple Support

Just to check, you are having your payments automatically deducted by Apple Card, right?

You have the bank account set up in thee card?

Open Wallet

Select Apple Card

Tap the three dots (upper right) and select card details

Check your scheduled payments section and check. the bank accounts section. You should have your scheduled payment details set and have a bank account added.

My payments are withdrawn automatically. I pay my monthly balance and the payment is reflected on the card immediately. On the bank side, I see the withdrawal clear about 3 days later (although it is listed as pending immediately). That's similar to almost every online withdrawal I initiate.

Sounds like you may have something else going on there. My bank is Wells Fargo and any payment I make to the Apple Card is always posted on my Wells Fargo account the next day. The same occurs for any debit purchase I make with the bank card, it will show pending for a day, then post to the account.

I understand it will be difficult to prove where the delay is occurring because each financial institution will just blame the other, but there does not seem to be a wide spread issue of delays in processing Apple Card payments.

Yes, I'm realizing that the issue may not like with Goldman Sachs or Apple, but with my bank. Upon my scheduled payment date the payment amount is automatically reflected in my card balance, but NOT shown as pending on my bank's end of things. A couple of my co-workers (who also share the same bank as me, I was just informed) experience the same issues, so due to that miscommunication I believe I have incorrectly pointed blame at Goldman Sachs/Apple when the issue is actually my bank. I'll contact them tomorrow to further discuss the issue, and I greatly appreciate your time and patience. I hope you have an amazing day.

It’s also my fault. When I read automatic bill payment I incorrectly assumed/read bill pay. As noted by muguy, you’re using Scheduled Payments. I assumed circumstances that were incorrect. My apologies.

I will say that I’ve made payments from 4 different accounts, Chase Bank, Wells Fargo, 5/3 and Regions. All of those banks instantly subtract the payment. I’ve read here of banks and credit unions occasionally taking a day to reflect the payment, but you’re the first I can remember saying three days.

Why does it take so long for my Apple Card payment to be deducted from my bank account??
