This symbol, looking like vinyl record, appeared on my log-in screen today. Does anyone know what it means? I tried a reverse image search of the icon, but only vinyl record ads came up. I also search here, but didn't find anything (but also hard to describe for a search). Thanks!

That is where your user icon normally appears.
Go to Apple menu > System Settings > Users & Groups and click on the "I" in a circle to the right of your user name and then click on your circular user icon to edit it. I can't think of any reason why it could have changed if you didn't change it.
