Mastercard identity monitoring going to GEICO now?

Got an alert and when link clicked it went to GEICO Identity Monitoring. Tried to sign in, bad credentials. Got worried, opened older link which went to Mastercard Identity Monitoring (old one) and logged right in…then changed my password. What is going on?

I got this email from Mastercard Benefits about 20 minutes ago. I suspect this might be the issue you’re experiencing.

I know that. They sent this text yesterday

You have a new Mastercard ID Theft Protection™ alert. To review, log in to https://applecard.idprotectiononline.com/s/ link removed

When I clicked the original link, it sent me to GEICO identity monitoring. After 2 hours on the phone with Goldman they confirmed a glitch and apologized for it. They use GEICO identity monitoring for other clients and sent out a bogus link to a few thousand people.

The additional benefits are provided by the Payment Network Operator (PNO) MasterCard. They have their own terms and conditions.

MasterCard does offer ID Theft Protection. You’ll need to contact their support team for additional information on their services etc.

My suspicion is that you may have been the victim of a phishing/scamming attempt to gain your login and other personal information. I would immediately contact MasterCard Benefits and make inquiries about your experiences with the alert you received.
