Voice Control verbal keystroke input
Hello,
Recently I started using Voice Control on all my devices Macbook, iPad, iPhone... I'm studying and I use one website called ATPLQ, where you have questions and multiple choice closed answers A, B, C, D like on the photo. I wanted to be able to assign a new command or such which already exist to select one of the possible answers by saying "Alpha" or "Press A" or something like this. (Have in mind that the website has the function to select an answer choice "A" when you press key "A" and select one of the menus above (question, explanation, comments) by selecting one of the digits from 1 to 5.
It turned out that when I activate "show names" or "show numbers" it doesn't assign a number or digit to any of the menus/answers (as you can see from the picture).
The commands like say "Press and the desired key from the keyboard" works only for dictation. They do not work as keystrokes.
I contacted Apple support via phone and they told me that they are not aware how this could possibly be done and that such function doesn't exist. Spent few hours researching and finally asked ChatGPT.
I finally found out how to do it! ChatGPT gave me seemingly complicated but easy and quick solution. You just have to use the "Automator" to input this code:
"tell application "System Events"
key code 23 -- A key
end tell"
and save it as a fail and assign a voice command to open it and activate it.
After doing that the Macbook told me that due to privacy limitations I wasn't allowed to execute keystrokes verbally. I came back asking ChatGPT again how to bypass this rule.. and he told me that I have to grant access to Automator and all file command created in "Privacy and Security" - Accessibility, Full disk access, Automation and etc.
Finally it worked.. I was able to say verbally "Alpha" and select answer "A" or say "Explanation" which is under the key "2" and open Explanation.
This solution took me hours and only works on a very specific places and cases. It would be nice if you make this feature available and more easily accessible.. It would have been nice if the same commands for dictation were working for keystrokes..
Does somebody has a different easier solution? Also commands like Explanation or Next question are easily understood by the Macbook, while commands like Alpha, Bravo, Charlie are very hardly understood. I often have to repeat several times or raise my voice levels.
