iOS18 & Carplay Issues - Person I Call Can't Hear Me

Hi

I updated to ios18 and now have a problem with my carplay. I always plug in so wired. All working totally fine until the software update. Now the person on the other end can't hear me when I'm hooked up in the car. All looks to be the same, I can hear everything, I can dial out on the touch screen etc but they just can't hear me. I've tried 3 different people. All ok if I try just through my phone - no car.

I have tried a reboot of the phone, no change. I will try removing the car from the carplay on the phone and re-adding it see if that works later today on my break at work but wondered if anybody else has the same issue?

Same issue here, I thought apple will fix in 18.1 but they didn’t, we need to escalate this problem.

But for me, everything works well—all the microphone issues are fine EXCEPT on the outgoing sound in CarPlay when both sending and receiving service providers are the same. Bluetooth is fine—this fix with the communications model is for a car/system-wide microphone problem.

Hopefully Apple will do something. This issue is happening since the beginning of iOS 18. Seems like it’s independent of the car model or the specific cell service provider, it happens when both sides are with the same provider (probably it does not happen to everyone, but it definitely happens to me).

So . . . whom do we kick this up to? Who is going to alert whom at Apple? Are they tracking these issues? What's the next step for those of us with a problem? Can we assume that at least a few Apple people over there in Cupertino with the same problem? Does each of us need to open a tech case?

I have same experience, ever since IOS 18.x when connected with CarPlay the audio is useless. I turned car play OFF. Using the factory’s wireless connection and calls are fine. Apple need to Amit the issue and address it. This is creating distracted drivers!!

Same issue here after updating to iOS 18. Calls through CarPlay were working fine before, but now the person on the other end can’t hear me at all.Tried restarting the phone, switching cables, and even removing/re-adding CarPlay, but nothing worked.

It’s really frustrating, especially since Bluetooth calls work fine. Has anyone found a fix yet, or are we just waiting for Apple to address this in an update?

When I checked on the audio unit in the car mine stated up to date. When I checked the web site mine was way behind on releases and since Lexus is a division of Toyota I thought it could help. It resolved my issues with the web site firmware. Mine was a 2020 Toyota. Good Luck
