After iOS 18-Update the Map in Photos-App does not show Pictures from my Mac

Hi,

I often use(d) the possibility to look after pictures by the location they were taken. The function works perfectly with pictures in camera roll but not with pictures from my mac.

When I locate an area in map-view and select pictures taken there I see thumbnails, but after selecting I see now an empty selection and the information to take or sync pictures. Both problems exist on an iPhone 15 Pro wie iOS 18 as well as on my iPad Pro 11 Gen 4. with iOS 18.

I already restarted the App, the Device and re-synced the folders, nothing help.

Please advise or fix with an update.

If the number is exactly 1, the photo is shown. If the number is higher than 1 it doesn't show any photos. Clearly a bug that needs to be fixed :-(

I've unfortunately been hit with this as well.

It's been an issue for me for months.

I've submitted feedback to Apple, and updated the feedback every time an update comes out and the issue still isn't fixed. It seems to be a less common issue as it seems to only affect people who don't use iCloud photos and who instead choose to store their photos locally and save them to local devices.

It seems our best bet is unfortunately to cause as much fuss as possible until enough people are making noise that Apple elects to dedicate manpower to resolving this issue.

I really do hope it does get resolved soon, this has been my primary way of finding photos for years now (by only needing to know where they were taken, not when, or any other characteristic). And this has made navigating photos on my phone substantially slower and more difficult after bringing to the table such a useful feature.

What's worse is it travels between phones too having gone from an iPhone 15 Pro Max to an iPhone 16 Pro.

Fingers crossed we all get a fix sooner rather than later.

Same issue here. Every release seems to cause a problem with the photos app. Currently, the Map only shows items that were recently taken on the iPhone. Photos that are imported from a PC that used to show up in the Map, no longer do. This is a bug and needs a fix to IOS 18.1. The only thing fixed in photos app with IOS 18 is the faces now show in people which stopped working in IOS 17.

I see the same thing on my iPadAir 10,9" (5th Generation, M1) iPadOS 18.0.1 with images synced via Finder and USB from Mac mini 2018 macOS 15.0.1. Photos Map view reports "No Photos or Videos" if a location has more than 1 image.

I am still holding my breath before complaining because I am waiting Apple to fix this relatively minor new glitch.

But I encourage you to send feedback to Apple:

Or especially in long-standing cases where you and other people can reproduce and agree of the issue:

The Feedback Assistant page might also be pretty much a bit-bucket too, but not quite the direct-to-the-shredder type as the product feedback page.
