iPhone 16 Pro Max Screen Unresponsive

yes, but just a basic 16, only got it yesterday, no case as yet.

Using Sainsburys Smart Shop yesterday, screen was unresponsive for a a good 30 seconds, I thought it might be Sainsburys WiFi, but it’s happened a few times. I switched it off & on, didn’t help. Totally unacceptable, that’s why I switched to Apple, years ago. Literally never had this before, & my old phone was 5 years old.

I got the phone on the day of its launch in India. I too have been facing the same issues on my iPhone 16 pro. I upgraded from 14 plus. There are so many dead areas on screen where it takes a harder and more deliberate tap to register the touch.

I am having the same issue. The screen is unresponsive on wake and I got to press the side button for it to respond. Also the lag can be noticed on different maneuvers like swiping, typing and missing keys.

At first I thought it’s a screen protector. Now I understand that it’s the phone. When typing or scrolling some areas are dead zones for touch. Or if there is a finger touching some areas and you try to do something with another like scroll it wouldn’t respond at all. Plus some app is really feels like lagging. For example Reddit and many others, loading and working on the app fills laggy. Upgrade to 16 pro max from 13 pro max and haven’t had that issues before. Will be waiting for update from Apple. Software or hardware will be waiting for update/replacement.

It’s happening to me as well. Happy it’s not just me! I find myself tapping a button or icon at least 3 or 4 times until it registers. Swiping too. Feels like you need to be more deliberate but even so sometimes it’s doesn’t work then. Hopefully it’s an software issue.

I have the exact same problem. I tried resetting the phone and deleting the apps over which the touch was significantly slower like telegram but it didn't help!

It's getting worse as days pass!!!

Does anyone know if it's a software issue or hardware?

Same with my ip16promax. Unresponsive, even without fingers over the new cam button. Is apple aware of that? How can this not get noticed during testing? Will send mine back if there is no fix during the next days. Apple really loses more and more to their competition. Hardly any innovation any more.

16 Pro Max user here and the touchscreen is sooo unresponsive. Not only that, the refresh rate when scrolling, closing apps in the background & delay when typing is a painful experience. I’ve literally gone back to the 15 Pro Max until Apple fix this. They need to come out and state they’re aware of this flaw and are working on a fix ASAP. I’ve had every iPhone and this is the worst new iPhone release ever, in regards to bugs.

I am loosing my rank in PUBG mobile, because I am getting killed and why? Because I went from 13 pro max to 16 pro max and guess what? the screen is sometime unresponsive. Pressing the trigger button on this unresponsive screen, the result is an annoying elimination by the opponent. Apple, this is a defect, recall those phones and please, work on this.

Yes! I have to press keys two or three times and there is so much lag on my brand new 16 pro max. Using x and Instagram is maddening because of the lag. Even typing right now it's stuttering and freezing. My 11 pro was better! I spent a fortune on the phone and accessories. This is completely unacceptable. If this isn't fixed asap the phone is getting returned.

This is bad. I open a browser and can’t type anything or even put the cursor in the search box.

This is a $1000 doorstop if they don’t fix this. Get some scrum masters that know what they are doing. The state of development, UX, and software testing in the US is getting pathetic.

I thought it was just me and my nails but it’s been happening today constantly and it’s very annoying! I kinda miss my 14 pro max! Never had issues with screen not responding! Thinking of returning this iPhone 16 pro max!

So someone had suggested resetting the keyboard. I had 5 or 6 keyboards in my settings. I deleted a few and only left the English one active. Ever since I did that my phone is working right. I am no longer having issues with my screen.

That is so super annoying!

I upgraded my iphone 13 pro max to 16 pro max and it is giving me so much trouble with 10x additional repitition to text or write compared to my previous phone, and I started having hand/thumb pain because of that!! I am very upset and don't know how to fix it?

I have a 16 Pro and its the same thing I am going to return it as my 14 was better than this its very unresponsive and I use it a lot for work and its a real pain waiting for update to see IF its fixed is not a option because I will be out of my return window.
