iPhone 16 Pro Max Screen Unresponsive

Is anyone else noticing their iPhone 16 pro max being unresponsive sometimes when touching the screen, typing, swiping.

Im not even using a screen protector and it’s like it. Makes things seem really laggy sometimes.

Did not expect it on a brand new iPhone.

iPhone 16 Pro Max, iOS 18

I have noticed typing on the keyboard sometimes just doesn’t register letters or the space bar. I took it to Apple, ran diagnostic tests and there wasn’t anything wrong. It is extremely laggy and doesn’t pick up key entries. Pls fix!

I'm having the same problem with my 16 Pro Max. The screen often freezes completely and won't respond to touch at all. Even when it does work, it tends to miss multiple taps, which gets really frustrating when I'm trying to type. Updating to 18.0.1 seems to have made things worse. I usually avoid beta versions because I can't stand the bugs, but out of desperation, I'm giving 18.1 a shot, hoping it'll fix the issue.

For troubleshooting, I’ve tried everything—restoring, recovery mode, DFU mode, even setting it up as new instead of using a backup. This is beyond insane and is completely unacceptable for a phone that costs this much.

Seems you've done a lot in the troubleshooting arena. I would, if I were you, schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar and show it to Apple. I have absolutely NO touch issues with either my 16 Pro or 16 Pro Max. A few in my office also have 16 Pro models and they too have no touch issues.

Hey, did you find a solution. Even I am from India and facing this issue since launch date, unfortunately there is no return policy else would have thrown this back at them on the launch day itself!

What happened after you updated to iOS 18.1, which was released yesterday?

I haven't, I am waiting for some feedback online before diving in. I don't want to face any new bugs than I already am.

Many have already reported touch is greatly improved on 18.1. At a minimum, I'd update my iPhone if I were having an issue.

Oh! Did it resolve it for you as well?

I've never had touch issues or any issue for that matter, on my 16 Pro or 16 Pro Max. But I know others have and it's always best to update when new updates are released, which many have reported helped with touch issues.

So I went by an Apple Store finally. Got my phone diagnosed as well as had it gone over by one of the Apple Genius’ there. The only thing they recommended me to do for the device is to completely factory reset and start my device fresh by not restoring my backup. They say it may have been an issue with my iPhone 13 Pro Max just hidden in the background.
So I did the reset, and nothing. It did nothing. Now I’m still struggling with the same screen issues and ontop of it I’m locked out of Microsoft Authenticator for my work.
Apple. Come on. This is getting crazy.

Same question for you. What happened when you installed the iOS 18.1 update released yesterday?

I am still experiencing touch screen unresponsiveness issues on my 16 pro max (ios18.1). I have an iPhone 13 and I can definitely tell a huge difference. My iPhone 13 responds to every touch input but with my 16 pro max some of my taps are not recognized.

I am considering returning my iPhone 16 pro max and just buying another one in hopes of being one of the people without these touch screen unresponsiveness issues. If the issue still persists or isn't resolved via an update I will stick with my iPhone 13 and wait for the 17 lineup - seriously very frustrating!

Your video shows an issue with the Instagram app, not a problem with the phone.

Note that you are able to freely scroll and perform other operations so the phone is responding to touch properly, it's just the app isn't, and only Meta can fix that.

Follow the procedure here:

I have done everything possible and suggested by Apple support the phone is a nightmare often not responding now seems to be typing passwords wrong taken me 1 hour to get on here, there’s so many people now having the same issue was told to back up and so on nothing works.

if I go to Watford Apple it’s a whole afternoon at least from work it’s just not possible it should work I have always had iPhones and never experienced this from a brand new phone could Apple please say what’s wrong and if fixable.
