two issues with my iPhone 16 pro max IOS 18:
1) keyboard lacks of responsiveness, oftentimes I have to double click when typing or It misses letters.
2) when searching for apps or contacts and using the swipe down function if starting a word with the letter «s», the search immediately disappears and spotlight shuts down.
what to do? Do I have a faulty device or is this an OS issue?

I thought I'd seen the last of the issues with this last update. It definitely seemed like it was better at first. Now, it's back to being terrible again, so I've switched back to Microsoft SwiftKey Al Keyboard, and that is working better than the stock keyboard.

I have the 16 plus same exact issue with the no responsive keyboard and screen.
Same! My iPhone 13 would randomly insert capital letters so that was annoying but the 16 curser skips around like a touch pad on a PC laptop in certain places. It leaves out words altogether.
So glad to see it isn’t me or my case! How absolutely ridiculous to pay what we pay for these phones and have such a ridiculous defect. Surely apple could resolve this a little more promptly
No, I noticed the issue right away before I even purchased the screen protector and I just got my phone on Sunday

while I am relieved the issue isn’t isolated to me, considering I thought it was my screen protector causing the issue, I hope there is a fix soon!
Glad it made some improvement but I agree spacebar and backspace still feels choppy to me too, hope and waiting apple to identify the root cause and fix asap 🤞
At first I was skeptical but I just tried your recommendation and it worked. Now I can type very fast. Thank you for sharing. But still I’m having issue my screen showed flickering with vertical rainbow stripes in a second after I sent text and wanted to type again.
