iPhone 16 Pro Max keyboard issues

two issues with my iPhone 16 pro max IOS 18:

1) keyboard lacks of responsiveness, oftentimes I have to double click when typing or It misses letters.


2) when searching for apps or contacts and using the swipe down function if starting a word with the letter «s», the search immediately disappears and spotlight shuts down.


what to do? Do I have a faulty device or is this an OS issue?

Has anyone figured out a fix to this???? It’s like my keyboard can’t keep up with how fast I am typing.

I am also experiencing the keyboard unresponsiveness. When I type, my keyboard randomly switches to the numbers keyboard so I start typing numbers into my words and have to painstakingly edit each word. I went to the Apple Store where I bought my iPhone 16 Pro and they tried resetting the phone from an iCloud backup instead of from my old phone. We then tried again to reset the phone with a backup from my Mac. We then tried setting the phone up from scratch instead of from a backup. We tried replacing the screen protector and we tried without the screen protector. I was then given a replacement phone and we tried setting that one up from scratch. None of the above have worked as I am still having the same keyboard issue. I haven’t had the phone for long enough to have noticed other issues but I am really frustrated by the lack of a solution to my issue.

My iPhone 16 Pro Max with iOS 18 has major lagging issues and is noticeably unresponsive especially when writing a text. This issue needs to be addressed and fixed asap. I’m currently writing out this text on the phone and the amount of time it has taken me to write this out correctly is unacceptable.

Same here.. got my phone 3 days ago and have been pretty disappointed with how slow is to type anything! I wonder if every user has this problem of only few unlucky ones like us.. so maybe there is still time to change for a good one from the factory because to use like this is just painful 🥲

Ahhhh- what is going on!! The keyboard is soooo slow and unresponsive! And also shows silly autocorrect suggestions. And doesn’t let me double tap the incorrect word to select all and delete! My 13pro max never had this issue. Takes me ages to type things out - sort it out Apple!!!

Been experiencing the same issues with the iphone 16 I just got and from the looks of this forum Apple still have not done anything about it.


So I've resorted to redownloading my Google gboard app which I haven't used in years because at least that works the way I'm used to.


Hear that Apple? I'm left with no choice but to use a keyboard from Google your top competitor because the keyboard on your own iOS is so dysfunctional...

Just got my iPhone 16 Pro Max and I thought I was going CRAZY because of this KEYBOARD ISSUE! Wow I am relieved but angry all at the same time to find out that others like me are experiencing this issue. I paid $2,600 CAD for a phone that doesn't even have a properly functioning keyboard. Extremely baffled as to how so many others have complained and seemingly no official solution has been presented!? Apple - you are slowly losing my loyalty... address this problem NOW!

I hate to tell you this, but this has been going on since September.. I’ve done everything under the sun to fix this issue, and there no hope in sight. I’m starting to think this might not be fixable, and It’s known, but will not be acknowledged for various reasons.

Here’s what I did that fixed mine:


1) Enable Haptic Feedback for the Keyboard

  • Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Keyboard Feedback > Haptic (Enable)


2) Adjust Touch Sensitivity

  • Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Touch Accommodations (Enable)


3) Turn OFF or Adjust 3D Touch/Haptic Touch

  • Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Haptic Touch > Choose between Fast or Slow to change the sensitivity.
