App Store fails to load on my Mac after updating to macOS 15

I have had nothing but issues with Sequoia 15.0. App Store fails to load unless I reboot and run again, Account updates don't run unless I reboot and run again. Everything runs SLOW!! This is an M3 Pro chipset. What is Apple doing?

You have too disks connected to your mac that are beyond full.

This slows down your mac immensely, and you run a serious risk of crashes and data loss.

Try to always have at least 10% free on each drive, and more like 15-20% in case of the system drive (which is not the problem here, plenty of space in it).

I also see that installed, and apparently subsequently uninstalled cleanmymac.

Many of us around here consider this malware - myself included.

Never trust any program that claims to "clean", "optimize", "speed up" your mac (or similar wording), they're scams at best, malware at worst.

I also have some minor (?) issues with Sequoia and most are speed/feel related. I thought : Could it be that my chipset - Mac mini M2 - is too slow? But now I read that even an M3 Pro chipset is slowed down. I agree with your question: What is Apple doing?

At first my Mac mini - M2 16GB/512GB - came with Sonoma and booting was a breeze. No time for a cup of coffee: within 5 - 8 seconds all programs of my former session were up and running. Most of the time that were Numbers, Pages, Firefox or Safari, Photos, InDesign (Adobe) and StarryNight (Astronomy software). Then Sequoia 15.0 came into play Installing was a tedious process but finally, after 2 or 3 times rebooting (don't know exactly if the mini was booting, but it chimed) the desktop and dock were on screen. No programs were opened during login but that was on purpose, because I wanted a clean start. Now I opened Numbers, Pages, Firefox and Safari and made a restart. This resulted in a black screen, after 2 seconds some flickering then a progress bar appeared with an indicator at 1/10th of the barlength. Some more seconds later -don't know exactly how much later - a black screen again and a progress bar with the indicator somewhere above 1/2 then again a black screen and a progress bar speeding up to the finish. Then - at last - appears a desktop with the wallpaper image and slowly filling up the space with Numbers, Firefox, Pages etc (the above mentioned login items). The speed/feel of Sonoma was down the drain with Sequoia in my opinion. It is not the chipset I have. I'm thinking of downgrading to Sonoma.

Thanks a lot for your reply. I had no problems at all before Sequoia, all programms were up and running within "a blink of an eye" so to speak. I did a clean install of Sequoia, so not a single log item was started besides Finder and Safari .. No third party programs - anti virus programs, ad ware detectors etc etc - were running at the time. So in this phase I don't understand the influence of third party daemons or extensions because I don't expect they're in Apple installed apps. After the install I did a (clean) restart. The slow performance remained, then I restored the login items and restarted again. These slowed the M2 somewhat more and that's the situation now.

I am not entirely convinced that you actually did a clean install...

That would mean erasing your drive, installing and then at most migrating your user accounts.

Is that what you did?

Please run Etrecheck and post its full report here. Use the "additional text" button and paste the report into the text box.

Without the information that the report provides about any system modifications, I have no idea how to help.

You're right by this definition of a clean install. What I did was removing all the login items from the "open at login" windowdow so they would not interfere with the booting process, then download Sequoia and let the install process find its own way. In my perception "clean" meant not being hindered by other programs during the instalproces. So - again my perception - when programs are not loaded in memory they can't stand in the way. I'll try to get Etrecheck - haven't used it for years - and will post the results.

Thanks for your help for now

Hans
