Someone stole my phone and Apple Cash themselves money

Someone stole my phone at pew pew point and forced me to give them my password. They were able to cash app themselves money. When I file my complain with the bank, Apple fought it and said the charges were legit. Has anyone experienced this? After the robbery, I even contacted Apple to have my iCloud password changed, phone locked and erased etc.My bank is not able to do anything because Apple disputed those charges. I never even used Apple Cash before. I feel so frustrated.

There really is no information to provide. You can review the fraud protection in the Terms & Conditions for Apple Cash. I’ve shared a link to download the T&C below.

Zelle is a service between US banks so you were robbed in a foreign country by people with a US bank account(s). Since they have US accounts law enforcement in the US could be involved if you pursued it. Apple Cash doesn’t work with Zelle so other accounts were involved.

Face ID played no part in the fraud or theft. Face ID doesn’t work with photos. It requires your active participation. If it fails multiple times you may be presented with the option of entering the iPhone passcode. Apple Pay offers greater protection than any other digital wallet. Apple Wallet can be easily locked by signing out of your Apple Account (Apple ID). Signing out removes all credit and debit cards from your Apple Walet. Lost phones can easily be locked. Please review the support article below.

The parties involved are your bank and Green Dot Bank issuer and servicer of Apple Cash accounts. Apple Cash is a prepaid debit card and like virtually all debit cards offer very little protection for fraud. You may have some protections from the Payment Network Operator, Visa. It would at least be worth a phone call.

When the passcode was obtained it gave access to your financial accounts. Some banks require 2 Factor Authentication to enter the website or accounts. Many banks however don’t require 2FA and access is easier.

Id file a police report if you haven’t done so already and contact your state’s consumer financial protection agency and inquire about resources.

I can’t file a police report because it didn’t happen in the states. I did filed a consumer report and provided it to my bank.

I was able to recover some of my money. The thieves also Zelle themselves some money as I guess Apple Cash didn’t let them transfer everything out? The only thing I wasn’t able to recover was the money they Apple Cash themselves and my bank said that Apple provided support that it was a legitimate transaction but I can’t see the report. I was hoping someone else had any info on this. I’m never using Face ID or even Apple Pay again. Too much risk
