my apple wallet has only 2 options to add a credit/debit card or a travel card. I cannot add my boarding pass, even when I try to use the .pkpass file from the air carrier. I see no options 'Add to apple wallet' or similar for the file on my phone

Boarding passes, tickets, keys, loyalty cards are added to Apple Wallet via the issuer secure website, mobile app or a link or QR code emailed or texted to you. You cannot add those items directly to the wallet. Please review the additional information in the Apple Support article I linked below.

Fraudsters were counterfeiting tickets, passes etc. and the pkpass method doesn’t work that way anymore. Security will get even tighter over the next few years.
Thanks for the reply, all works fine if I open the webpage on my phone. Previously I downloaded the .pkpass file on my PC and then emailed it to my phone which was not working (there is prob some way to do that too but it's for a different topic)
