No notifications for Limited Edition Activity badges with Apple Watch

Hi,

I used to get notifications about special edition badges, like Lunar New Year, National Parks Day, Earth Day, etc, via my Apple Watch. But I haven't gotten those in a couple of years. So I've missed many badges. I've checked my Watch settings (both on the watch and on my iPhone in the Watch app). Both of them indicate that yes, I want to be notified about special badges. Notifications on my watch are properly configured as far as I can tell. What's what? Thanks!

To characterize for the collective record, the Apple Watch Screenshots above document the sequential steps to navigate from the open fitness app homepage to the limited edition individual event page.

The first evidence that that there’s an active limited edition challenge available to complete does not appear until the third screen. The empty shell of the uncompleted badge is visible at the top left. It did not spawn until midnight the day before the challenge became active.

If the challenge is discovered & completed before the deadline, the shell is permanently replaced with a the full color badge; if it’s not, the shell disappears at midnight. Unlike the proverbial pumpkin carriage tho, no evidence whatsoever remains that it was ever even there.

I have precisely the same problem!!

I am actually so happy to see you, I’m tempted to sing The 🐢s’ one-hit wonder to celebrate. Although maybe that would be weird? Perhaps I should quote it instead. tbd… (😁)

-I don’t have a solution (not for lack of trying).

-I do have a workaround.

-Serendipitously: Today actually is a limited edition challenge day in honor of Veterans Day.
