Suddenly sound is playing really soft. I have everything maxed out, volume all the way up and I can barely hear it. When I switch the output from Mac Studio (small internal speaker) to Studio Display, it briefly gets very loud and then cuts back to the low volume.

For anyone coming across this issue in the future: I think I might have found the problem. It's a Mac OS bug. If you have a Homekit camera feed open in the Home app, the entire system takes on the volume level of that camera feed, no matter where you up the volume (in Apple Music or the system level). Once you close the feed or adjust the volume on the feed suddenly the Studio Display for all sounds outside of the Home app get loud again.
Yes, I agree it's a bug. I have Aqara cameras and its super annoying that I can't leave the feed open while I'm on MS Teams because the people I'm conferencing with can't hear me unless I put my AirPod Max on/close Apple Home video feed. I thought I had a problem with my new M2/Studio Display until I came across your message here. I'm not crazy :). I hope they fix this.
