New iPhone - Apple Pay won’t work in stores

Oct 2024 - Updated to a new iPhone and my Apple Pay works fine at home shopping online, but won’t work in stores.

Called Apple help once, they took me through the basics, ie: country, language, newest iOS, settings, etc. I’ve also removed and reloaded credit cards in my wallet, and restarted phone.

BUT the automatic feature in the phone to add credit cards doesn’t work; only adding manually, or choosing “previous cards”.

Anyone have ideas? Please share. Thx
