Why is my Apple Fitness+ free trial not working?

I received an Apple Watch this summer as a birthday gift and it came with a three month free trial for fitness+. I registered for it , but when I try to access it, I get this message: “Apple Fitness+ unavailable. Not able to access content at this time”. Any idea how to fix this issue?
