Siri responds "Continue on the companion device"

We have multiple HomePods and HomePod Minis in my home. I am the primary user on all of them, and they are all signed into my AppleID account. The current OS version on all of them is v18.

If I ask Siri the example phrase, "Siri, what's the weather?" or "What's my current weather?" or "What's my weather forecast?" I get the response, "Okay, David, you have to continue on the companion device."

Why?

Possibly related, if I ask Siri, "Siri, play rain sounds" or "Siri, play forest sounds," the response is, "I couldn't find rain/forest in your music library." Siri no longer knows my music playlist, even though I have an Apple Music subscription and pay for music library syncing.

Most of the example phrases Apple shows on the HomePod webpage haven't worked since the v18 updates. In my experience, Siri has gotten continually worse.

Has anyone else been experiencing similar problems and is there a solution?

Thank you.

Hi David,

I can't answer your "...Weather?" question; however, the missing music sounds like a mismatch in your online library. Have you tried syncing your physical library (Music you purchased, ripped from CDs, or downloaded) on your Mac or PC?

On your Mac or PC, open the iTunes app, on the menu bar - Click on "Music", “Settings”, select “Sync Library” (Under the "General" tab), and then click “OK.”

Following that, on the menu bar select - “File,” then “Library,” and select “Update Cloud Library.” This may take a while to complete.

Your missing songs should now be playable via Siri command.

Good luck and please let me know if the solution works for you.
