Apple Watch Series 10, red notifications dot on face

I recently bought a series 10 at an Apple store. The setup was seamless and the new watch connected to my iPhone 13 pro.

A few days later I received my new iPhone 16 Pro via a courier and once again the change over was seamless.

Since then I have noticed that the reminders no longer show a red dot at the top of the screen. I get a haptic that sometime is happening and if I drag down from the top I can see the reminder and tap 'completed'

Some other apps will give me a red dot but not the reminders.

To date I have:

restarted the watch

reset the watch

unpair and paired the watch

and nothing seems to work
