I have followed the instructions in Accessibility to read portions of select text, (as opposed to the entire page). I then go to my document and choose “read“ after selecting and I am thrown out of the document altogether. I have no idea why is this would happen. Btw, the read page option for an article where page view is on top right works perfectly.. Any ideas?Thanks!

Wondering if you have checked the settings:
Settings > Accessibility > Spoken Content
Check it is "Speak Selection" that is turned on (ie: rather than Speak Screen)

Your posted info. says "iPhone 8 Plus" ... yet if using iOS 18.1 you must be using a newer iPhone ?
Else: The newest compatible iOS version for iPhone 8 Plus is iOS 16.7.10

If still using iPhone 8 you might want to check in Settings > General > Software Updates
(NB: If an update is available: It is wise to back-up iPhone data, before you update.)

I keep forget to remove the 8S from my info..just did it. No, it’s a 15 pro max with 18.1 newest update. Read text simply doesn’t work anymore. Once I touch “read” on drop down, I’m out. Makes no sense. (My lock picture screen shuffle was confounding also, and I’m not a dolt. Apple senior tech had to ultimately figure that out. It’s so difficult, I’m not touching it anymore!) Looks like someone will have to actually look at it…thanks. It’s much appreciated.
