How to delete game centre account

Every time I try to delete my Game Centre account, the only option I’m given is to delete my Apple ID as well. Is there a way I can delete my Game Centre account and for it not to affect my Apple ID account? I want to know this because I have logged into a different device with different Game Centre accounts, but they both share the same Apple ID Account. Therefore I can’t link game progress and stuff.
