Iphone Health app no longer tracking active energy, after I bought an apple watch.

I used to use my iPhone to track my active energy and steps etc. i have started taking more of an interest in my fitness so i was really liking tracking the various metrics with my iphone. However, since I have purchased and been using an Apple Watch the iPhone will no longer track active energy by itself without the watch. I dont want to take my nice new watch to work where it will get dirty and damaged so it stays at home. Work was a big chunk of my daily steps and active energy, but having the watch seems to have broken my phone’s ability to track my active energy while im at work without my watch. The phone still tracks my steps without me needing to wear the watch. Anyone got any ideas? Im updated to the latest OS (i actually needed to update in order to pair the watch) watch is a brand new SE gen2 if that matters. This seems like a software glitch but if anyone knows how i can fix this i would be very happy. This has messed up activity tracking T_T

Sorry, but if you pair the Apple Watch to your iPhone, it becomes the main source of your activity tracking and recording. As you have noticed, the iPhone will only count your steps during the time you are not wearing your watch.

But, you can add data to the Health App manually, including estimates for used calories, which also helps to close your fitness rings.

And, if you use the Feedback link, you can tell Apple directly about your wishes for future watchOS or iOS updates.

This is the only way to reach them, as Apple does not follow theses user to user communities.

Thanks for the information! I will definitely send them some feedback. Having the phone no longer track activity if there has been a watch paired seems like i pretty dumb oversight on Apple’s part. Im sure a lot of people would have situations where they would not want to wear their watch such as dirty or rough activities. Expecting people to wear a watch every second of the day is unrealistic…
