How to remove my bank card from child’s device

Son only latest update is 17.7.1 mine is 18.0.1 I an unable to remove my bank card from his payment, he is able to buy in app purchases, screen time is turned on to ask permission, this is not happening and payment is being granted, only option I have is to cancel purchase sharing, this is so frustrating, I added my card to his iPad as a one off and now I am unable to remove it! Buying him something is a real fuss because I have to go in and change settings to allow purchase sharing, this needs to be fixed, spoke to support apparently I cant remove my card on his account?

If you are using Family Sharing and this son is a "child" according to Apple's age definitions, your payment method isn't on his account, it is on yours. As a Family Sharing member is has access to your card for charging purchases in excess of what he has for personal balance. You need to set up Ask To Buy. A requirement of Family Sharing is that the Organizer (presumably you) must have a card on their account and anybody buying things that cannot pay for them with personal account balance will have the charge roll over to the organizer's card. Why can't you remove it?

If you did I fact add your payment method to his Apple account on his device, then you should be able to remove it from there too.

With that said, when using Family Sharing and Purchase Sharing is turned on, family member's payment methods are not used. As mentioned all charged as sent to the Family Organizer's payment method instead.

If as suggested by Limnos, it is simply using the card from your account over Family Sharing as its supposed to, then you should enable Ask to Buy to prevent unauthorized purchases.

Thank you for your replies, I had an appointment today at Apple Store, and it does seem to be a bug with my phone updating to the latest version than his, they could t seem to rectify this either and I had to put my cv three digits of the back of my card to verify the payment on his device, now I am getting the notifications to grant the payment, but he is not being asked for a password, instead he is asked to open settings and sign in using his password key, but it is linked also to his iPad. He is getting a new iPad for Xmas so I will be setting this up without using any back up, I have also been advised to try resetting settings, and if it doesn’t work to factory reset it, so we will see how we get on. I kind of wish I never updated my phone now as this only happened once I updated, and unfortunately his iPad can’t update to my version because it’s older.
