I am on macOS 15.1 using iCloud to synch my books with my iPad. On the Mac only all the books disappear, I was reading a book, the book window disappeared and all my books were gone in books.
I found a workaround, went to ~/Library/Caches and blew away all books folders. Then reboot and the books are all back.
