Sleep mode won't turn off after alarm, alarm won't work on my watch.

It seems like this has been an issue for several years and other than turning of sleep mode in the control center or deleting everything, there is no real fix. My question is why hasn't Apple addressed this bug and fixed it for later updates? I had trouble getting my watch to work with the alarms when I upgraded this past summer and was able to eventually fix it. Now I have upgraded my phone and I am having the same issues again. It is really annoying.
