Thanks for the information, what you own is likely an iMac, a fairly late one. Again, knowing the model year would be helpful. Below are the steps to take.

  1. Open the Music app and select Music > Settings
  2. Click General
  3. Click the When a CD is inserted pop-up menu
  4. Select Import CD
  5. Click Yes to import all songs on the CD
  6. Click Import CD near the top right of the Music window to add the selected songs to your library

If you still get stuck, please call AppleCare and they will walk you through the process on the phone. You can find the phone number for your country by clicking AppleCare Contact Info

An iMac G5 would be a PowerPC-based iMac released between August 2004 and October 2005. The highest version of the OS that it could run would be Mac OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard), the last version of Mac OS X that was available for any PowerPC-based Mac.

The iPhone 12 originally only supported manual synchronization with Macs that were running OS X 10.11.6 (El Capitan) and later. If you have updated your iPhone 12 to iOS 17 or 18, manual synchronization probably now requires Macs that are running Mac OS X 10.3.* (High Sierra) or later. Only Apple Silicon Macs and some Intel Macs are recent enough to satisfy these requirements.

In either case, an iMac G5 would be far, far too old to manage an iPhone 12.

As I stated I already have the CD imported. I am trying to get it to my iPhone 12

Once the music is in your Music Library, you would use the Finder to sync it onto the iPhone 12.

In the Finder, go into Finder > Settings… and make sure that in the Sidebar tab, you have checked off the box for "CDs, DVDs, and iOS Devices" (or whatever line might be appropriate for Catalina). Then follow the directions in the Support articles to which den.thed provided a link.
