Epson 3800 & Sonoma 14.4

Hi! I am trying to print with my epson 3800 running on Sonoma 14.4 but the printer is not able to receive info from my computer (it recognizes it in that the name pops up but it says "communication error" when I try to print & the utility crashes). I updated to the latest Epson driver, then I called Epson and have reinstalled the printer a few times. They only other suggestion they had was trying a new cable - I just replaced it and it's still not working. I saw another thread where folks were talking about this and was wondering if anyone found a solution.
