Audible Clicks appearing on FCPX sound tracks

I am running FCPX 10.6.1 on my recently acquired MAC Mini 2023, M2 Chip, 8GB Memory, running on Sonoma 14.6. Adding remotely recorded AIFF audio files from a USB Memory Stick to my first video assembly on my new Mini appears to introduce a sharp, audible click at the point the new AIFF file is connected to the timeline. I have used this approach to adding remotely recorded audio to FCPX edits in the past driven off my 2017 MacBook Pro without introducing unwanted clicks to the sound mix.

I am wondering if anyone else has experienced a similar problem with my new sort of Mini based set up and can help me sort it? Thanks for any pointers.

It might be a good idea to update to the latest version of FCP although I don't think it will have any bearing on the clicking noise.

There is no obvious reason why you should have audio clicks as I am running a similar setup (base model M2 mini) and have not experienced any problems.

Have you played the clips in QT Player to see whether the click is on the original file?
