iMessage group message

When my daughter sends me a text message/ iMessage, it comes through to my phone looking like a group message that says: maybe: her name & you. I have tried everything to make it work properly but cannot figure it out. Her number is in the contacts as well as her email. It’s also affecting my ability to track her location. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. We are both updated to 18.1.1. She has the xr and I have a 14. Help!
