ou Can't: Seems you've been scammed, though a full-assumption, on my part. Ask the seller for the password. If they don't have it, then ask for a return. This is the site the person logged into it, should have used prior to selling it to you. If Purchased on a Site (i.e. ebay):

Report this to the site, and request a return.

Because they did not, you cannot personalize the computer properly for your own use, including associating it properly with your Apple Account (Apple ID).

You should return the computer for refund asap. If you cannot do that, then basically you have a door stop. There is no workaround.

Note that Apple reused the model number A1286 for a number of 15" MacBook Pros – introduced anywhere from Late 2008 to Mid 2012.

The MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010) cannot be updated past macOS 10.13.6 (High Sierra). High Sierra is seven major versions older than the current version of macOS (Sequoia). Vendors such as Adobe and Microsoft have a policy of supporting only the most recent three. Even the current versions of Firefox and LibreOffice need a later version of macOS than High Sierra.

So unless you already have the software that you need, or were looking for an old Mac to run 32-bit applications, buying a used Mac that was this old may not have been the wisest move.
