Adding card to apple wallet that was on it before upgrading phone

I have contacted my bank and read through so many discussions for tips and nothing has worked.

I can’t get my debit card back on my apple wallet after upgrading my phone from the 15 to the 16. I will note that my children have the same bank company and they have their cards in their apple wallet!

Yes, my card is apple wallet compatible and I have tried adding it to my wallet through the bank app itself and I will show that in a screenshot.

I have manually added it to my wallet through settings and the wallet app and I will also show that in a screenshot.

I have reset my network settings based off a tip listed in the apple discussion.

I have removed the Face ID/passcode and then deleted the wallet app and reset my Face ID and reinstalled the wallet app and it still did not work.

I have no restrictions in the screen time settings, I’ve never messed with my region settings but, checked that and it’s all correct. I’ve been trying everything since I got my new 16pro and it won’t work!

Yes, my phone is up to date on the software side!

Sorry, your post was difficult to read due to lack of paragraphs. Probably just my older eyes and a small screen.

When you tried to add the card using the bank’s app, what was the exact error message?

Adding cards is done through basically three entities, the issuing bank, Payment Network Operator (Visa, Mastercard etc.) and Token Service Provider. Apple supples basic information about your device, usage patterns, Apple Account (formerly Apple ID) etc.

Apple is not a bank and cannot approve or verify you or your account information. When you enter card information into your Wallet app, it’s encrypted and forward onto the PNO and bank. Either entity may block further action on the card. Why they block a card is not disclosed to Apple. Apple has no right to that information and cannot obtain it.

If the error message says contact issuer it means the bank or PNO has blocked the card. If the bank says it’s good on their end, the banks support team needs to contact PNO and find out why.

Apple can block the card temporarily for a few suspicious activities, one being trying to add the card too many times in a 24 hour period. Another reason is the bank failing to remove their token from your old iPhone or provisioning the card properly for the new device. Banks should see the token or provisioning issue when called though.

If you’ve got additional questions, I’m happy to answer them for you.
