Notes on iCloud inaccessible in Sonoma

I have a MacBook Pro 2018, 6 core 2.6ghz intel i7core chip, with Vega 16 4GB RAM GPU and 32GB DDR4 RAM running Sonoma 14.7.1. After upgrading to Sonoma, iCloud will not open my notes. I get the following mesag: "Notes for iCloud cannot open. This browser [Safari Version 17.6 (19618.3.11.11.5)] WebGL feature is not available.Try restarting the browser or try a different browser.

That sounds ridiculous- Apple own browser cannot open apples own app...ideas?

Thanks PRP_53, I like your horned owl.

My Software update setting states my safari is up to date. I am on Sonoma, you tested on Sequoia. Are you sure 18.1.1 is compatible with Sonoma and My Intel Mac? Based on a conversation I had with Apple support, I am concerned that Sequoia will render some (many) of my apps obsolete as it is designed for the Apple chip.

Is there a way to update safari even if software update thinks it is up to snuff?

From another similar issue related to " WebGL feature "

Proceed with caution as I have not Tested the below

" Give Terminal app Full Disk Access permission in the Settings->Privacy&Security pane, and after that run in Terminal:

defaults read com.apple.Safari WebKitPreferences.webGLEnabled

if it shows 0, then do defaults write com.apple.Safari WebKitPreferences.webGLEnabled 1

Restart Safari, webgl should be enabled now. "
