How to avoid Safari notifications

Until two days ago, I was getting just Firefox notifications, as my default browser is Firefox and I had enabled notifications for several events (Google calendar notifications, Yahoo mail notifications, etc), like this:

Then two days ago I started getting double notifications, from both Firefox and Safari, like this:

I tried disabling Safari notifications, but this didn't change the result. What is weird is that -maybe, I'm not 100% sure that it was different before- all browser-based notifications in my macos settings have a Safari icon, like this:

What can I do so that I'm getting again notifications only from the default browser?

Wrong notifications. You need to turn it off in Safari's settings.

Open Safari's preferences (Settings). Click on the Websites tab and then scroll down to Notifications. Clear any entries in the right hand window. You might find something similar in the Pop-up Windows heading below that. Block any you don't recognize.

Then if you want, uncheck the box to the right, as shown below here.

I personally can't think of any reason why I would ever want any website to push notices to me.

Ok, it works. I'd rather apply a solution that didn't require to disable the Safari notifications, but to me it is important that I can avoid to see them when the Safari app has not been launched.

You can leave it on, but then have to be much more diligent about checking any entries at least once per week. Deny access to those you didn't ask for that are throwing out unwanted ads. Which are usually scam notifications that your computer has xxxx number of viruses, or other such lies.

Choosing Deny is better because if you remove the entry, it will just get added again if you repeat a visit to the site that put it there to start with.

Done as you suggested. I'll let you know.

What I don't understand is why this happened as I didn't change anything. But the behaviour of Safari changed unexpectedly.
