Refurb i Pad 9...no passcode & restore failure
Trying to restore a used refurb iPad 9 . After doing an initial setup successfully (which means I would think that the iPad is good) I rebooted it later, and it would not start up without first entering a passcode...but the new setup process never asked me for a passcode. I had successfully setup my fingerprint for login. But nevertheless it was requiring me to login with a passcode! So nothing to do but restore to factory state. So I Installed Apple Devices app on my Windows 11 desktop. Have a lightning connector and a type C to type A adapter, as my desktop doesn't have any type C connectors. The PC is connected through our router. So the restore process got through the firmware part, but at some point well into the software part, it failed. So tried to start the restore process again... But now the iPad seems to be stuck on. A long press of top button first shows the connection graphic (showing to connect lightning cable to the host recovery device), and then pushing the top button again makes screen turn off. I think maybe its cycling between sleep mode on and off. Every time it shows the connection graphic (its woke up), there is a DING sound....so the usb has become active). Pressing top button and home button together will no longer start the restore process, I guess because it is already active/on. I think I cannot start another restore attempt unless I first power down the iPad, and theres no way to do it. It's fully charged, so how many days would it be asleep before it loses power and really shuts off?
