Apple USB 3 Camera Adaptor won’t update on iPhone

I have purchased a camera adaptor and as soon as I plug it into my iPhone, it says accessory update available. I choose update and it disappears. Doesn’t do anything. I have seen online an update on an iPad but after selecting Update it shows the progress. So I’m wondering if it cannot update on an iPhone.

I do not have any other apple devices and so I’m a little bit stuck.
