Desktop Mac not recognizing any input devices

When I tried to start my Mac this morning, it wouldn't recognize my keyboard or mouse so I couldn't type in a password. I tried turning off then on. Now, my mac keeps flashing pictures of a mouse and keyboard showing how to turn them on; however, it still won't recognize any keyboard. I have tried the magic keyboard both bluetooth and via USB connect; still no luck.

I have a desktop Mac, but I am not sure which version.

Any ideas on how to get a mac to boot up if it won't take any inputs?

What was on the screen before the alternating keyboard and mouse screen..?

Have you tried restarting the iMac..?

If the iMac seems frozen or unresponsive, press and hold the power button for 10 seconds or until it shuts down, then press the power button again to turn it back on.

Then if the keyboard and mouse fail to reconnect...?
