I would like to preserve external photo album structure when air dropping photos to my new iPhone16 Plus (iOS 18). If I air drop an album's worth of photos at a time, they show up in "All" photos, along with all the other photos. This is not helpful if I then want to "move" them to an Album (they go into the album on the iPhone, but are still in "All"). Am I overlooking something?

By definition, All Photos includes all photos. You cannot "move" photos to an album, as albums are not storage locations but lists of pointers to photos elsewhere in the library.
