Completely dead. I tried several solutions I found online, none of them helped.
Disconnected it for 15 min., then tried to start it, held the power button for 10 sec. and tried to start it again, disconnected all the devices attached to it.....
It is connected to surge protector, so it cannot be damaged by a power surge.

Depending on how "old", it may simply be a hardware failure.

Cannot is too strong a word. Especially in the cases of lightning strikes. I could be wrong, but I believe that that lightning strikes can easily overwhelm surge protectors.
