How to clear Safari history on parent manger device

My child’s iPhone can not clear web search history, even I tried YouTube and everything but clear is faded out in settings. We want to clear because when we type a letter in search it auto fills so like, type g and it goes to show: google.com . Is there a fix to that? We also tried clearing keyboard/autocorrect settings but did not work. Thank you.
