Numbers keeps crashing (possibly caused by categories)

I am using Numbers version 13.1 on Monterey. It keeps crashing either randomly or sometimes when I save a file. This began with a particular file, so I started a new file and rebuilt the spreadsheet, and had not got far when it started crashing.

I have deleted and reinstalled Numbers. I have opened Numbers in SafeMode. And I've tried creating and saving a file on the deskstop so it doesn't sync through iClould. The problem persists through all these.

It may be a bug with the categories feature as when I turn switch it off on a particular table, Numbers crashes.

Help would be appreciated.

Thanks for replying. I do report the bug.

Yeah, am hoping to get by a little bit longer before I upgrade my old Macbook Pro.

I’m narrowing down the cause.

In order to use consistent nested categories over multiple tables, I have categories names in their own validation table and use xlookup in other tables to pull the relevant labels. Editing the data in the validation table sometimes causes Numbers to shut down when I then use the categories. Doesn't always happen, so still looking for what exactly causes it to break, but am managing to get by making frequent back ups.
